    Description: The Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing duties including cleaning, banquet set ups, closing and maintaining the facility to support the highest quality guest and customer experience at the Lod Cook Alumni Center. The Maintenance Worker responds to the needs of the customer by setting up chairs, tables, audio/visual equipment as directed and providing excellent customer service. The Maintenance Worker daily performs general maintenance tasks and a wide range of cleaning duties.

    Essential functions:

    • Setting up tables and chairs as directed for various functions, working closely with Conference Services Coordinator and Event Managers.
    • Carrying out opening and closing duties of the facility.
    • Performing general maintenance tasks and projects including but not limited to basic carpentry, plumbing, painting and electrical, HVAC.
    • Performing a wide range of cleaning duties, including but not limited to cleaning floors, windows, tables, chairs, restrooms, facilities, and equipment in accordance with LSUAA cleaning procedures and assisting in an entire team effort.
    • Portraying a positive company image and engaging in professional and friendly communications with all clients and guests.
    • Solving maintenance related problems as they arise, escalating any customer concerns to management.
    • Cleaning floors, rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and/or draperies, using related appliances.
    • Complying with safety regulations/fire codes and maintaining a clean and orderly facility.
    • Collecting and disposing of all waste and recyclable products in all offices, restrooms and public areas, cleaning and sanitizing all restrooms.
    • Performing other duties and tasks as may be assigned from time to time by the Supervisor.

    . Requirements: Minimum Qualifications:

    • Availability to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Basic writing and emailing skills.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Teamwork oriented, assisting in an overall team effort.
    • Possess basic knowledge of workplace safety procedures.
    • Knowledge of how to set up basic audio/visual equipment.
    • Must be motivated and able to work independently; must be organized and able to prioritize and multi-task.
    • Possess effective verbal communication skills; ability to engage with customers.
    • Knowledge and experience repairing electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall and appliances a plus.

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Must be able to bend, stoop, climb ladders, reach, carry objects, and crawl in confined areas. Must be able to work inside and outside in weather conditions. Must be able to push, pull, lift, carry, or maneuver weights of up to 50 pounds independently and 100 pounds with assistance. Rare travel may be required to attend training classes, business meetings, or other situations necessary for the accomplishment of some or all of the daily responsibilities of this position. Must be able to "take call" during evenings and weekends, as needed. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
